Growing and Learning on the Farm

One of the most special experiences our campers have enjoyed this summer has been spending time on the Ramah farm. Through this hands-on chug, campers have had the opportunity to connect with teva (nature) in a way that is both fun and meaningful. From planting seeds and watering gardens to watching their hard work blossom over the weeks, campers have experienced the joy of caring for something and seeing it grow. Along the way, they have developed a deeper appreciation for where their food comes from and the importance of caring for the world around them.

A favorite part of farm chug has been harvesting fresh herbs and vegetables and using them to create recipes they can enjoy together. So far, campers have made homemade pesto and fresh salads using ingredients they helped grow themselves. There is something truly exciting about picking food straight from the garden and turning it into a meal, and many campers have been eager to taste new flavors and discover just how delicious fresh, homegrown ingredients can be.

The farm has also become a place where campers can learn through exploration. They ask thoughtful questions, work together to care for the garden, and celebrate each new harvest as a group. Whether they are pulling weeds, watering plants, or gathering vegetables, every camper plays an important role. These shared experiences remind them that growth takes patience, dedication, and a little bit of teamwork.

Most importantly, the farm gives campers the chance to slow down, get their hands dirty, and connect with the natural world. Watching a tiny seed transform into something they can harvest and enjoy is a powerful experience that fosters curiosity, responsibility, and pride. We hope the memories, skills, and appreciation they have cultivated on the farm this summer continue to grow long after camp ends.
