Courtside Confidence! Our Basketball Intensive Highlight

This week, some of our campers in Garinim and up have been hitting the court for our Basketball Intensive, where they are getting the chance to learn how to be expert players.

Led by Tova Gelb, an alumna of the Vassar College women’s basketball team, campers spend the afternoon each day developing the fundamentals of the game. From sharpening their dribbling and passing to improving their shooting, defense, and court awareness, every drill is designed to help players strengthen their technique while also making sure to focus on the importance of teamwork and communication.

Whether campers are showing up with years of basketball experience or are just playing for the first time, this intensive provides an encouraging environment where everyone can challenge themselves and improve past their own personal starting point. Tova’s experience as a collegiate athlete, combined with her enthusiasm for teaching, creates an atmosphere where campers feel safe and excited to ask many questions and test out new skills.

Beyond playing the game, Tova has been teaching the kids the importance of teamwork and consistently cheering each other on, even if the game does not go to plan. It’s been exciting to watch each player grow in their confidence while also discovering just how much they can accomplish with practice, determination, and a supportive team by their side.
