Yom Israel!

Wow! What a day. From Tefilah (prayers) on the farm to STEAM, Omanut (art), so many sports, and YOM ISRAEL!

At Tefilah (prayers) this morning on the farm, Farmer Noah explained the concept of Hitbodedut (Jewish Med

itation).

Simply put, you go out into a field, or in our case farm, and mediate. Our hanichim (campers) were each given a few minutes to find a place on the farm and use their five senses to observe how G-d is all around us.  Here

are a few things we heard from our hanichim:

  • I saw a butterfly;
  • I heard a woodpecker;
  • I saw a cloud in the shape of lightning;
  • I smelled the flowers and saw the colors;
  • I heard the wind;
  • I could feel God all around me!

Farmer Noah helped explained that this medication, is a time to talk to God or yourself about anything. It made me think about one’s journaling or yoga practice. A time to pause and think about one’s hopes and desires, to reflect on big issues or mundane tasks. My takeaway is that nothing is too big or too small for hitbodedut.

We so look forward to celebrating Shabbat tomorrow!
