Specialty Programs

Here at Ramah Boston we offer many ways to personalize your camp experience. From the chuggim (electives) you pick to the food you eat, camp is really yours to make what you want. In addition to our stellar & fun regular program, we offer specialty programs that are a “camp within a camp”.

Etgar (Adventure) Camp – Week 3 – Ages 9-12

Our Etgar (Advcamper climbingenture) camp, created for campers ages 9-12, is an opportunity to get out of our regular schedule and go on daily adventures. Based mostly out of our Waltham campus, campers will experience horseback riding, canoeing, hiking, and more (activities are subject to change). Additionally, participants will get to camp out at Ramah Palmer for one night, building a fire, pitching tents, and camping outside. In 2026, Etgar will run week 3, with a limit of 20 campers. Etgar costs $1075 for the week.

MaKoR (Madrichim K’Tanim b’Ramah) – all summer – rising 8th & 9th graders

Our MaKoR (Madrichim K’tanim b’Ramah) program is a counselor-in-training program for rising 8th & 9th graders who want to learn how to work with children. MaKoR participants’ day is broken into three blocks – leadership training, experiencing camp as a camper (and participating in activities), and hands-on learning, assisting in a bunk with young children.

Sha’ar (Hebrew Immersion)

Sha’ar is our full-day Hebrew immersion program, designed to help campers build confidence and fluency in spoken Hebrew. Throughout the day, campers are surrounded by Hebrew through conversations, activities, songs, and

games, strengthening both their speaking skills and comprehension.

Sha’ar campers follow a daily schedule comparable to the rest of their Edah (age group), ensuring they enjoy the full camp experience while deepening their connection to the Hebrew language. Whether your child is continuing their Hebrew learning or learning the language for the first time, Sha’ar provides a supportive, immersive environment that nurtures Hebrew skills and lasting confidence.

The Sha’ar program is available for an additional $50 per week, in addition to regular tuition.

Tikvah (Inclusion Programs)

Our Tikvah program (inclusion) program is designed for campers who can thrive at camp with thoughtful, proactive supports built into the camp experience. Tikvah campers are fully part of our regular camp program and benefit from pre-determined accommodations that are planned in partnership with families before the summer begins.

At its heart, Tikvah is about belonging, growth, and meaningful participation, creating a camp environment where campers are supported, challenged, and celebrated as part of our community.

Campers in Tikvah should be able to participate in the daily group schedule and navigate camp routines with consistency and structure. While Tikvah campers do not typically require one-on-one support throughout the day, each summer we are able to accommodate a few campers who need a dedicated aide. If you think Tikvah might be the right fit for your child, or if you’re unsure and want to talk it through, we encourage you to reach out to us to start the conversation.

Our Voc-Ed program is a vocational training and socialization program for young adults. Through close communication with participants’ parents and year-round support professionals, we develop a summer program individualized to each participant’s needs, focusing on goals in the areas of social skills and job skills.
